India

India is a scaling country for FISH and provides ample opportunities for scaling WorldFish technologies, tools and practices to benefit large numbers of small-scale farmers and fishers.

Projects are currently underway in Odisha (in collaboration with the Fisheries and Animal Resources Department of the state government and, separately, USAID) and Assam (with the World Bank). Interventions include carp-mola polyculture, sustainable carp intensification, farming of GIFT and nutrition-sensitive fisheries technologies.

In addition, a proposed five-year collaborative research plan with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research seeks to increase the impact of research on sustainable aquaculture, small-scale fisheries and value chains and nutrition.
