In this event hosted by CGIAR Gender Platform and Wageningen University & Research (as EU Gender-Smart partner), different panels made up of representatives from research, civil society, practice, policy, private sector and donors will share insights on the importance of ‘gender + research’ and ‘gender + integration’ in guiding positive transformations in food systems and societies worldwide. The four-day program aims to generate innovative, conceptually sound, and influential gender+research work while widening and strengthening the networks of researchers dedicated to advancing this work.

WorldFish’s Gender Research Lead, Cynthia McDougall, will lead and participate in several sessions on gender and social inclusion in food systems. On Tuesday, 12 October 2021, McDougall  will lead a discussion on how marginalization and social exclusion in community-based resource management in food systems. On Thursday, 14 October 2021, she will be speaking at two sessions, sharing her insights on how COVID-19 impacted women value chain actors in Africa and the opportunities and challenges of advancing gender transformative approaches in aquatic food systems.
